Boho style and beach cool are synonymous with the beautiful island of Ibiza. But is this Mediterranean-style interior achievable in the UK?
We recently stayed at the Villa Alcantara in St Josep de sa Talaia, set within a private courtyard of ancient olive and fig trees. The villa is stunning with a pool surrounded by palm trees and bougainvillea, at least four chill out areas and hacienda style bedrooms. We may not live in Ibiza but the villa style is very simple and stripped back with quirky additions and interesting focal points, something we can all recreate in our own homes.
White, white, white!
This beautiful veranda overlooks the pool and gardens and we spent many hours relaxing in this space. We loved the small details in this ethereal white room; the dainty lace tablecloth, the classic white Eames chair, the oversized hanging lantern and the painterly cushions; all complementing the bleached wood and white walls.
This summer's heatwave gave us all a taste of Mediterranean living and alfresco dining became almost second nature! Create your own entertaining zone, just like the villa, and dine under a vine covered pergola. If you haven't the time to grow vines, hang a collection of lanterns to create a ceiling of twinkling lights.
Take inspriation from the villa and create your own chill-out zone. Add boho style cushions and tassel throws to a daybed or hammock, then introduce low tables for serving snacks and drinks. Make the zone feel cosy by introducing rugs, luscious plants and of course candlelight. Now you can relax (or party) Ibiza style!
Dotted around the villa, the owner displayed curiosities and souvenirs from the local hippy markets and her travels abroad. They all blended in beautifully with her white colour scheme and provided a focal point ... or a talking point!
Place solar lights in your garden to show off your favourite plant or garden sculpture. You can never have enough candles, so go over-the-top with candlelight to recreate this magical garden.
