Mediterranean Blues

The calming tones of blue and white are so typical of Mediterranean interiors. You can easily recreate this coastal look without falling into the trap of nautical cliches. Here are some examples of beautiful coastal interiors and styling for inspiration!

This room is full of relaxed rustic charm with the addition of beautiful Tomy K cushions in cobalt blue and flashes of pink. The driftwood on the walls adds warmth to the white and blue scheme with a nod to beach life. Ferns and palms in raffia pots are a lovely touch too.

First impressions count and this striking blue door immediately sets the tone in this fresh, bright hallway. Adding a bold runner is perfect for high traffic areas and you can certainly be brave with colour in your hallway.  The white wood panelling and lantern are subtle addtions which bring the whole coastal scheme together.

Decorating with indigo and white brings easy sophistication to this beautiful bedroom scheme. We love the raw materials and discreet lighting which all bring a sense a tranquility to this space. The oversized plump cushions are a must for lazy Sunday mornings!

This kitchen epitomises Mediterranean living. The raffia pendants are a real focal point and we love how the owner has cleverly used blue in this space. The open shelving is perfect for this rustic kitchen which exudes warmth and hospitality.

Relaxed entertaining is a way of life in the Mediterranean and these large platters are great for sharing food with friends and family. Choose inky blues and wave patterns to continue the blue scheme such as these Gerona platters handcrafted in Spain and serve your meats and cheese on rustic wooden boards. Use simple glassware and plain linen napkins to make your table look beautiful without trying too hard. Spoil your guests with good food and wine and don't worry about everything looking too perfect. Sometimes the more relaxed you are, the happier your guests!
